Our mission in practice
We hold space for storytelling, creativity, and connection so that families and communities feel seen and valued. With our new home base in Omaha, we're expanding our reach while continuing to support rural Nebraska. Through retreats, media projects, and partnerships, we uplift voices and build community where care and belonging can thrive.
Programs
Education
Together We Heal Support Groups
In partnership with therapist Miguel Estevez Jr., these gatherings give participants a safe, culturally responsive space to process challenges, share their experiences, and build tools for emotional well-being. For many, it's the first group setting that has felt like both.

Hosted by Esmelda Amarante, Miriam Guedes, and Naidid Aguilera, this podcast is a trusted resource for parents and childcare professionals — promoting positive parenting, strengthening family bonds, and reducing barriers to educational resources for families.

Now heading into its third season, this podcast with Melissa de la Torre continues to bring health and wellness conversations directly to our community.
Courageous Mujer Retreat
Courageous Mujer embraces, supports, and celebrates women in Nebraska. The retreat creates space for women to gather, reflect, and reconnect. A third retreat is planned for Central Nebraska.
ALAS
A statewide network of leaders, launched in partnership with organizations across Nebraska to share resources and support one another.

In partnership with The Welcome Center of Lexington, helping families start the school year prepared and supported.

Every family has a story worth telling — but too many go untold because there's no safe space to share them. UBCM creates that space: retreats where we can reconnect, support groups where healing happens in community, and media that puts unheard voices at the center of the story.
